‘Dreaming female figure’

Enclosed In swathes of soft iridescent fabrics a female figure unfolds her body. She appears to drift in and out of sleep and dreams, she floats on the surface of the painting. Flickering shapes help to outline her body, for she has just emerged from peaceful dreams. 

The painterly marks I have used in this painting ‘Dreaming female figure’, are reminiscent of Tracey Emin’s female figures. For example, Tracey Emin, ‘Just Waiting’ – 2014.

I admire Emin’s gestural marks, which suggests the whole body and shows dynamic movement in a confined space.

I have used feather white marks to outline my figure, with washed watery white olive-green tones, which suggest movement as she appears to drift in and out of sleep.
